The identity of the man tragically killed December 27th at the Mars Hill post office has now been released. Everett Almound Johnston, Jr, age 65 of Marshall was identified by the Buncombe County Register of Deeds. Johnston’s wife, Ann Louise Johnston, was with her husband when he was accidentally run over and killed by a post office vehicle that was backing up. The couple moved to Marshall in 2020 because they were looking for an isolated place which would be safer during Covid.
