The problem I have with a lot of the ideology some folks promote is they seem to think that our LGBTQ friends and neighbors are promoting an ideology when they are seen in books, movies, and social media. I know and work with a lot of LGBTQ people, including young people. They aren’t confused or obsessed, only want to know why some other people are obsessed with insisting LGBTQ people don’t exist, particularly trans, nonbinary, queer, and intersex people. Why are these “straight” people so obsessed with others’ appearance, names, and pronouns, things that are no one else’s business? I’m not. These mostly old people seem to not be able to see that these young artists, athletes, animal lovers, and whoever else they may be are also LGBTQ and want to be able to express that as well without anyone getting in their business. If people don’t really care if they are LGBTQ why do they keep objecting to it? Sexuality and gender identity has always been a special thing, freely expressed …as long as you weren’t LBGTQ. What gives? Why are LGBTQ people being forced to deny who they are? Why is all this drama being forced upon them by those who get upset over someone else’s name and pronoun? This is based on my experience. Schools do teach adjectives, adverbs, and other grammatical skills in English classes. I know normal, LGBTQ kids who would like to see themselves depicted in books, movies, social media just like their friends are without a bunch of adults starting all this drama.
