Pat Metcalf Boone

Pat Metcalf Boone, age 76, of Burnsville, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 26th, 2023 at Mission Hospital in Asheville.

A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of Mary Fran Duvall of Cincinnati, OH and the late James Metcalf. She was also preceded in death by her step-father, Frank Duvall; husband, Ray “Bud” Boone; great-granddaughter, Ryleigh St. Pierre; son-in-law, Gary Swann and a brother, Jimmy Metcalf.

Pat had an immense talent for writing poems, singing, and also loved to read and listen to good old gospel music. She was very strong in her Christian faith and prayed endlessly for her children. She was devoted to having her kids in church their entire lives.

She was also an amazing cook and was known for her peanut butter fudge. Her homemade spaghetti sauce was so loved by her family that Stacey even broke into the house once to get a jar. She was known as Nana B by all her grandchildren and if there was a baby in the room, she was holding it.

She was their biggest cheerleader and supported them in everything they did. The love that Pat had for her children and grandchildren was immeasurable, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Surviving in addition to her mother, Mary Fran Duvall of Cincinnati, Ohio, are her children: Lisa Boone Langdon (Glenn) of Burnsville; Stacey Ray Boone (Crystal) of Spruce Pine, Pam Boone of Jacks Creek and Rachel Roberts (Ben) of Peoria, IL; siblings: Steve Duvall (Pat) of Cincinnati, OH, Ronnie Metcalf (Mindy) of Lakeland, FL and Dee Metcalf (Jeff) also of Lakeland, FL; sisters-in-law: Doris Long of Asheville and Sue Trent (Odel) of Yuba City, CA; grandchildren: Micah, Gage, Adrian, Lauren, Jon, Kristin, Ian, Logan, Layton, Jayanna, Andrew, Daniel, Jeremy, Skylar, Trista, Gracie and Zach; great-grandchildren: Addie, Iris, Jamie Rae, Ivy, Blaire, Ellie, Cash, Kennedy, Collins, Silas, Max, Miles, Lincoln, Loki and James. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family survive along with many friends.

A service to celebrate Pat’s life will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, January 16th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. The family will receive friends from 5 until 6 p.m. prior to the service. A private inurnment will be held in the Boone Cemetery on Plum Branch, where she will be laid to rest with her husband, Bud.
