Having studied political science and history both formally in high school, college and grad school, having worked in it and studied it informally since that time and experientially, “way off base” is a fact-based opinion and analysis rooted in the definition of a banana republic. I did read the article from start to finish and, while factual itself, it doesn’t sound at all as though it supports the conclusions of the poster in the context of a banana republic. You can assume anything you want, but I don’t have the time or desire to address and fact check all the propaganda, bad logic, misinformation and disinformation, bait-and switch, or beliefs without any valid support some folks spread here. This is pretty basic stuff I’m basing the analysis on, available to anyone who cares to do some pretty basic research or just self-informing. The connections made just don’t hold water even if the facts in the article do. I talk about this stuff with young people and with folks out in our local community every day. Have a nice day!
