Mack ‘Buddy Joe’ Sparks

Mack Sparks “Buddy Joe” of Country Club Drive, Waynesville, NC peacefully entered Heaven’s gates while surrounded by his loved ones, on Jan. 17, 2024.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara: sisters, Carol Lee and Karen Duncan and a special brother-in-law, Dean Duncan.

He was an inspiration to all who knew him and was loved and admired by many. The impact of Mack’s life will be felt years to come.

He was a Christian man drive by purpose and generosity towards those he loved, those fortunate enough to cross paths with him and even strangers. If there was a need, Mack (Bud) would rise to the situation and extend a helping hand.

Mack was an outstanding businessman. He owned a chain of clothing stores, The Closet, with locations in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. He also loved traveling and visited England several times buying choice antiques that he brought to another of his business’ Slow Lane Antiques and Gifts in Waynesville, NC.

He will be forever known as a loving husband, brother and friend.

A memorial service will be at his home church, Bear Creek Baptist Church in Bakersville, NC on Sunday January 21, 2024 at 2:00 pm.
