Mildred G. Huskins, age 83, of Ridge Road in Spruce Pine, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at her home.
Born on March 23, 1940 in Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late Melvin and Pearl Childress Beam. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, Marcus Huskins and a great granddaughter, Harper Grace Richardson. Also preceding her in death were her brothers; Parker, Ralph and Billy Beam and James Vaughn and her sisters; Betty Denton, Nancy Pendley, Katie Beam and Laura Hicks.
Mildred was a member of the Altapass Baptist Church and was retired from Coates American following thirty-six years of service. She enjoyed working in her yard and garden and talking on the phone with friends and family.
She was a ‘special Nana’ to her grandchildren and great grandchildren and she loved spending time with them.
Left to cherish her memory is her son; Melvin Huskins and wife, Sherrie of Spruce Pine; her daughter; Mavis Parsley and Mike of Spruce Pine; her sister; Martha Biddix of Spruce Pine; her sister-in-law; Ida Beam of Spruce Pine; her grandchildren; Matthew Huskins, Arielle Richardson, Mariah Parsley, Alyssa Huskins and Alison Huskins; her great grandchildren; Aubrey Huskins, Elijah Huskins, Amelia Richardson, Liam Henry and Fae Henry; and many special nieces and nephews who loved to visit Mildred.
A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Friday, January 26, 2024 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the Altapass Baptist Church. The funeral service will be at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 26, 2024 at the Altapass Baptist Church with Dr. Marcus Benfield and Matthew ‘Vern’ Grindstaff officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Zion Methodist Church Cemetery.
