Fugitive Apprehended in Yancey County

The Yancey County Sheriff’s Office successfully apprehended a wanted fugitive, Jeremiah Ayers, in connection with the theft of an ATM in Carter County, Tennessee. The arrest took place on January 23rd, following a collaborative effort between Yancey and Carter County law enforcement agencies.

Upon investigation, authorities discovered that Ayers, a Yancey County resident, was involved in breaking into an ATM machine in Carter County, Tennessee. The coordinated efforts of both Yancey and Carter County Sheriff’s Offices resulted in the recovery of over $90,000 cash from the stolen ATM, located within Yancey County.

Sheriff Shane Hilliard emphasized the significance of inter-agency cooperation, stating, “This arrest is the result of multiple agencies working together and utilizing the latest technology at our disposal to apprehend criminals who broke the law.”
