Lavenia Ann Spencer “Sparky” was a caring mother, wife, aunt, grandmother, sister and friend. She left this world on January-12th 2024 at age 80.
Lavenia lived a long and interesting life, making many dear friends and had close relationships with her family.
She was born to Ralph and Marie Sparks on January 6, 1944. She graduated from Western Carolina University with a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics. During a college summer break she met her husband David William Spencer. Together they had 2 children: Jon and Ron.
Lavenia loved spending time making arts & crafts and designing in her life. She had her own business and many people purchased and enjoyed her creations. She was also a licensed beautician in her life. Lavenia had a long battle with Cushing’s disease, and she never stopped fighting. No matter how sick she was, she was always determined. When anyone else would have broken, Lavenia stayed strong. Through her example, we know what resilience and perseverance truly look like. There was never no quitter in Lavenia. Just because she is no longer here, it doesn’t mean she lost her fight.
Lavenia is survived by her son and daughter in-law Ron & Tricia Hindman Spencer and her brother Ralph Butch Sparks. Also survived by her nieces Natalie Sparks, Nena Griffith and Mary Claire Simmons and their children, along with her step grandchildren Alexandra and Christian Dittlau. Lavenia is predeceased by her son Jon Spencer, her parents Marie and Ralph, and her brother Teddy.
The family invites you to join them for a memorial service at Liberty Hill Baptist Church on Saturday, February 3rd at 11:00am. All are welcome.
