No one does or has ever dropped bombs to “feel better.” It is not nor has it ever been an “emotional” decision. Bombing has been a tactical, strategic or political one and goodness knows I have not been in agreement about an awful lot of bombing in our country’s history. But neither the bombing I opposed nor my opposition to it was emotional or designed to make anyone feel better. There have never been any simple answers in the Middle East ever since a lot of bad decisions by “The West” an awful long time ago. Unfortunately, we kinda’ missed the don’t-be-there window. For goodness sake, I remember when “we” had Iranians here on these shores, in this country, being trained by our military right alongside, Saudis and Egyptians. Now we’re kinda in the you-broke-it-try-to-at-least-do-no-more-harm phase. No one ever wants to bring war to anyone’s shores across either ocean except if they’re trying to invade, colonize, or take those shores with military force. That’s not what’s happening regarding the Middle East. …sometimes I think the Saudis and the UAE are trying to buy the country, though!
