Willie “Bill” Allen Guinn

Willie “Bill” Allen Guinn, age 90, of Elk Park, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 5th, 2024 at The Waters of Roan Highland.

Bill was born in Avery County on July 20th, 1933 to Dr. F.P. and Bertha Combs Guinn.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Helen Birchfield Guinn; half-sisters: Hazel Gouge and Mildred Woody and half-brothers: Warren, Finley, Gurney, Grady, George and Colis.

Bill was a US Army Veteran having served in the Korean Conflict.  He was a member of the Cranberry Masonic Lodge #598 for 60 years.  He was a kind and caring soul who loved to garden and give it away to anyone that wanted it and also cutting wood to help others through the winter.  Bill enjoyed watching his great-grandchildren: Bryson, Jadyn and Coleton play ball.

Surviving is his children: Tommy Guinn (Connie) and Robert “Bob” Guinn all of Elk Park; grandchildren: Thomas Guinn (Amber), Michelle Whitley (Joel) and Nicole Guinn (Chad) and great-grandchildren: Abigail Guinn, Bryson Whitley, Jadyn Whitley and Coleton McKinney and a sister-in-law, Paulette Street (Larry).  Several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, February 9th in Elk Park Christian Church with Masonic Rites conducted by the Cranberry Masonic Lodge #598.  Rev. DeWayne Sabisch will officiate.  Burial will follow in the Guinn Family Cemetery with Military rites conducted by the Pat Ray Post #4286 D.A.V.  The family will receive friends from 1 until 3 p.m. prior to the services at the church.  Pallbearers will be: Thomas Guinn II, Joel Whitley, Chad McKinney, Bryson Whitley, Coleton McKinney and Josh Brown.

The family would like to say a very special thank you to all the staff at The Waters of Roan Highland for the wonderful care given to Bill and to Elk Park Christian Church for allowing the use of the church for his services.
