I am not on Team War Hawk either, but it’s still not about feeling good for any of them I’m aware of in any bombing situations I’m aware of, now or in the past, historically speaking. All the politicians, including some in the military who shouldn’t be politicking, present their tactical and strategic plans for emotional effect and affect as they seek public support for military response or war. That goes for hawks AND doves. They give warning because of a principle, one I am personally skeptical of, proportionate response. They aren’t trying to kill as many people as possible, they’re actually often trying to avoid mass killing to make it “proportional” in response. Sometimes dropping a bomb is a warning. “We” have used and do use drone warfare as well. All that said, and considering my own personal disagreements with hawkish policies, they still aren’t doing it to feel good, nor are they trying to provoke good feeling in the public. That wouldn’t work to achieve their goals.
