While I watched the riot of Jan 6 as it happened, I was horrified, however I do not believe this was an attempt to overthrow the government but rather a mob that was frustrated with voting corruption. There is much evidence that they were encouraged to enter the capital by an instigator that has basically disappeared from public view.
If an organized mob were truly intent on overthrowing a government, I would think they would have been more organized and armed to the hilt and yet the only shots fired were those of the capital police.
