I have a hard time understanding what’s so complicated about property values. For decades we’ve had a progressive group of individuals who have sought to sell out every local property to outsiders who have very different values than the local people. What have we done about it? Nothing. We keep allowing local positions to be filled by outsiders. We sell our properties for inflated prices and are glad to do it. We silently allowed our roadways deemed Scenic to our own detriment. We cannot blame the commissioners for following the law. We are to blame for our own silence and greed. Support those who support you. Our commissioners can’t rewrite property evaluation law. Yes they can lower the millage rate, but net neutral eliminates opportunity for growth. If the only opinions that are voiced are outsider’s, we are to blame. Sometimes those who cry loudest are trying to cover their own tracks. Why would those who profit most from outsiders purchasing property and building new homes cry foul? Just a thought!
