Glenda Jean Wilson, age 64, of Burnsville, went Home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 15th, 2024.
A native of Mitchell County, she was a daughter of Glen Robert Braswell and the late Rachel Marie Buchanan. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Hunter Laws.
Glenda cherished her time spent with her children and grandchildren who called her “Brown Granny”. She was very creative and loved making jewelry, as well as quilting, and was a wonderful homemaker. She loved her cat, Ossy. Glenda had a warm, generous heart and was a friend to all who knew her. She always tried to see the best in everyone.
In addition to her father, Glen, she is also survived by her daughter, Ashley Laws of Burnsville; her son, Bradley Wilson of Burnsville; four grandchildren: Brianna Laws, Blake Laws, Dahlia Buchanan and Davien Buchanan; sister, Sherry Barrier and husband, Gene of Avery County; half-sister, Samantha Riddle of Mitchell County; and two very special people who were just like her children that referred to her as their mother: Kevin Bean, his wife, Merinda and their children of Burnsville. She is survived as well by several nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, February 20th in the chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Preacher Scotty Cole will officiate. Burial will follow in Roan Mountain Cemetery #2.
The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 1 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
