This is an anonymous forum. All the places I and other colleagues see people repeatedly spreading misinformation and disinformation are either anonymous, unverifiable or distant. That’s where they insult the intelligence of those who catch them at it. Watch for it.
It doesn’t matter if those people would really gladly insult people to their faces or not. That kind of statement is a kind of an attempt at intimidation or bullying that’s pretty silly in this kind of forum.
One of the many reasons people responding to the posters spreading misinformation and disinformation don’t and won’t put their names in anonymous forums is that we DON’T want to have a conversation with people who do that. It would be pointless and they are boring.
Personally, I don’t fear the bullies, but given how unstable some of them are, have proven to be, I know some of my colleagues do have a pretty rational reason to not want to have a conversation with them or reveal their identity to them.
