Mitchell County Schools announced on Friday, February 23rd that the new school, Mitchell Elementary/Mitchell Middle will be opening in August of this year. According to the news release from Mitchell County School Superintendent Chad Calhoun, contractor Vannoy, Cope Architecture and all of the sub-contractors have worked tirelessly to make this happen. Being able to start the new school year in August in the new state of the art facility will make a smoother transition for both students and staff. An exact date will be announced closer to the event.
