News from Congressman Chuck Edwards

This administration’s policies continue to hurt Americans and destroy our communities, while illegal immigrants benefit from those policies that incentivize and reward lawlessness.

America is grieving for the family and friends of Laken Hope Riley, a nursing student who wasImage brutally murdered by an illegal immigrant. And there are many similar stories from around the country where someone that shouldn’t even be here inflicted great harm on American citizens.

Open border policies have once again turned deadly, turning every community into a border community.

This is why I voted for and continue to support the Secure the Border Act, the strongest border security bill in history, to build a safer country and prevent such devastating tragedies.

Make no mistake, Laken Riley’s death was avoidable and would be alive today if it wasn’t for the administration’s radical open border policies.

WNC is paying for student loan borrowers’ debt

Whether or not you attended university, you are responsible for paying the debt of other student loan borrowers.

The president announced another $1.2 billion in inflationary student loan forgiveness. This reckless decision is unfair to hardworking Western North Carolinians, many of whom never had the privilege or chose not to attend college, and only incentivizes universities to continue to raise costs.

Let’s be clear, student loan forgiveness is simply forcing the debt of student loan borrowers onto the backs of hardworking taxpayers. This is simply unjust and adds even more financial stressors for American families that are already struggling to keep up with the cost of inflation, and I’ll continue to fight back against it.

The American Dream is harder than ever to reach

ImageBidenomics continues to fail Americans by creating one of the most unaffordable housing markets in recent memory.

Since Biden took office, average monthly payments on a new home have increased by 90%.

As this administration continues to push its failed agendas, as a member of the House Budget Committee I will work to block Democrats’ spending bills that drive up our federal debt, throw on costly and burdensome regulations and make owning a home out of reach for millions of hardworking Americans.
