Mitchell County Commissioners do meet with the people of Mitchell County. Mitchell County Commission meetings and Public Hearings are not only open to the public in person, but are live streamed and available for viewing as recordings after the fact. Agendas are posted here on the WTOE website as well as other places. Personally, in addition to attending or viewing those meetings when I see something of interest on the agenda, I regularly visit with at least one commissioner regularly to voice my opinions or concerns, something some of them are always willing to do even though I can be a pain in the neck. Attendance at the two recent candidates forums was sparse but the sitting commissioners answered all those citizen-submitted questions and talked with anyone who wanted to afterward.
