Georgia McClellan of Spruce Pine the Gouges Creek community passed away Thursday March 7, 2024, at the Mitchell House in Spruce Pine.
Born February 27, 1929, in Mitchell County, she was a daughter of the late Wilburn and Charlotte Burleson Thomas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Guy McClellan, a daughter, Joyce Burleson and ten brothers and sisters.
Georgia loved flowers and her yard was a testament to that love. She also loved to quilt, especially on the beautiful creations of her daughter Joyce. They worked together on many beautiful quilts and shared them with fortunate family members and friends. She loved her family, and she will be missed.
Left to cherish her memories is her daughters, Wanda Hoilman and Bob Munday of Spruce Pine, Mary Carpenter and husband Bobby of Newland, Sally Revis and husband Roger of Marion, son in law, Richard Burleson of Spruce Pine, grandchildren, Tammy Renfro (Jerry), Guy Burleson (Lisa), Darren Hoilman all of Spruce Pine, and Michelle Vines (Greg) of Greenville, TN, five great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, several nieces and nephews and a very special friend Clarence Gortney.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date in the McClellan Family Cemetery on Gouges Creek.
The family would like to send out a special Thank You to Joyce Carpenter who was a very special friend to Georgia and became a part of the family.
