Jaren Alan Wilson, age 28, passed away after being ejected from a vehicle where the driver lost control on Interstate 26 the evening of March 11th. According to Sgt. PJ Morgan with N.C. Highway Patrol, around 4:33 p.m. it was reported a Ford Focus was traveling east on I-26 at a high rate of speed, weaving in and out of travel lanes when he lost control near the 11.5-mile marker, traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck an embankment. The car overturned multiple times before coming to rest on the right side of the road. Wilson was the right front passenger and was ejected during the collision and pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved in the accident. The driver was identified as Bradley Hunter Johnson of Weaverville. He and the rear seat passenger were transferred to Mission Hospital and reportedly in “serious but stable condition”. The accident is under investigation and will be taken to the district attorney once the investigation is complete later this week with charges pending.
