Carter McKinney, age 70, of Plumtree, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2024 at Smokey Ridge Health & Rehabilitation in Burnsville.
Born on March 15, 1954 in Burke County, he was the son of the late Bertie Mae Burleson McKinney and the late Lee McKinney. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Pat Phillips McKinney and his brother-in-law, Jack Mason.
Carter was a member of the Yellow Mountain Baptist Church. He loved the Lord and his family, too. He enjoyed gardening, working on cars and sitting on his porch. He was also fond of his dog, Tiny.
Left to cherish his memory is his sister; Wanda Mason of Franklin; his step daughter, Melissa Phillips and fiancé, Samuel Glascoe of Newland; his granddaughter, Stephanie Phillips of Newland; his step grandson; Dakota Matthews of Four Oaks, NC; his nephews; Jonathon, Jackie, Jr., Jared, Stephen and Kevin and his dog and companion, Tiny.
A memorial service will be on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the Yellow Mountain Baptist Church with the Rev. Dustin Dellinger officiating.
