William “Willard” Hensley, age 81, of the Simms Fork Community, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 8th, 2024 at Forest City Hospice House.
A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late John and Sarah Edwards Hensley.
He was also preceded in death by infant brothers: Phil and J.D.; brothers: Vestal, Conno, Woodrow and Lee and sisters: Maudie, Ula Mae, Ruth, Nina and Thelma.
Willard loved animals and took great pride in his work at home. He loved the Lord and his family and will be greatly missed.
Surviving is his wife of 49 years, Rita Fox Hensley; daughters: Sarah and Brittany; sons: Gary (Bobbie), Timothy “Sam” (Tammy) and Christopher; grandchildren: Taylor, Dusty, Shana, Faith and Samuel; great-grandchildren: Lane, Colt, Tate, Dallas, Olivia, Paislee and Myzelle. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 13th in the chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Pastor Daniel Parker will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1 until 3 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. Private burial will be held in the Hensley Cemetery on Simms Fork.
