The Town of Spruce Pine has awarded mowing and landscaping contracts and is also moving forward with revitalization project for Oak and Locust Avenues. The mowing contract was awarded to the only bidder, Harding’s Landscaping of Spruce Pine. The Landscape services contract also went to Harding’s since their bid was significantly lower than a bid from a Crossnore landscape company. The downtown revitalization project is being managed by Withersravenel, a civic and environmental engineering firm headquartered in Cary, NC. They are responsible for engaging the community and creating a comprehensive master plan for the main downtown area. Funding comes from a $200,000 grant from NC Department of Commerce and the USDA. $10,000 of the project will come from the town’s budget.
