Bonnie Thomas Benfield, age 75 of Thomas Road in Spruce Pine passed away Friday April 19, 2024, at the Frye Medical Center in Hickory.
Born in Mitchell County, she was a daughter of the late Monroe and Maude Trivett Thomas.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Lynn Honeycutt, brothers, Dennis and Sammy Thomas and a sister Janice Thomas.
Bonnie retired from Baxter Healthcare She was a member of the Gouges Creek Baptist Church. She loved her family and spending time with them she enjoyed flowers and always watched the weather.
Left to cherish her memories is her daughter, Teresa Gortney and husband Tim of Spruce Pine, granddaughter, Savannah Atkins and husband Josh of Bakersville, great granddaughter, Bailey Atkins, brothers, Kenny Thomas and wife Mary Jo of Newland, Wayne Thomas and wife Stella, Rev. Tommy Thomas and wife Mary and Rev. Donnie Thomas and wife Susan all of Spruce Pine, sister, Diane Garland of Spruce Pine, sister in laws, Pam P. Thomas and Pam O. Thomas both of Spruce Pine and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Benfield will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday April 23, 2024, at the Gouges Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Tommy and Donnie Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and Interment will follow in the Gouges Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
