Jan Ramsey, age 59, of Banner Elk, went Home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 28th, 2022 surrounded by her family and friends. A native of Avery County, she was the daughter of the late Jess and Carolyn Howell Brewer. She was also preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Glinda Yates; brother-in-law, Rick Ramsey; and her mother-in-law, Mildred Ramsey.
She loved spending time with her family and grandbabies. Jan had a kind, caring heart, and cared for others for years. She was known by everyone as Mama Jan, and had a way of making everyone feel like her child. She battled cancer for many years. She remained strong in her faith, and is now resting peacefully with the Lord.
Surviving is her loving husband of 34 years, Steve Ramsey; son, Jacob Ramsey and wife, Micaela; daughter, Jessie Ramsey Key and husband, Jeremiah; four grandbabies: Tate, Nash and Huck Ramsey, and Hadlee Key; brother, Jadd Brewer and wife, Pat; four sisters-in-law: Sue Willis, Jeannine Ramsey, Brenda Ollis and Sara Brewer; and father-in-law, Fred “Papaw” Ramsey. Many nieces and nephews who were more like her children, and special dog, Rusty, also survive her.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, January 2nd, 2023 at Roan Mountain State Park Conference Center.
