Harold Dean Weatherman, age 83, of the Newdale community, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 26, 2024, at the CarePartners Hospice Solace Center in Asheville.
A native of Yancey County, he was the son of the late Ernest Guy Weatherman and Euna Mae Forbes Weatherman. In addition to his parents, Dean was preceded in death by his brother, McKinley “Kinney” Weatherman, and his nephew, Ernest “Ernie” Guy Weatherman.
Dean was a member of Blue Rock Baptist Church. He was a loving, caring Christian brother and loved spending time with his family and friends. For many years, Dean worked in construction and owned his own construction business in Lewisville, NC. After retirement, he enjoyed working in his church, Friendship Baptist Church in Lewisville, NC, and helped with a ministry to the Hispanic community. In 2018, Dean came back home to Yancey County where he resided in the Newdale community and was able to spend his final years with family and friends who loved and cared for him and will miss him greatly.
Dean is survived by his brothers, Douglas (Pat) Weatherman of Lewisville, NC, Danny (Angie) Weatherman of Palm Bay, FL; sisters, Mary Jo McClellan of Spruce Pine, NC, Doris (Richard) Biggs of Pfafftown, NC; nephews, Weldon (Julie) Weatherman, Matthew McClellan, Mark (Melissa) McClellan, and Jeremy Biggs; nieces, Pam (Troy) Donahue, Trigette (Bruce) Spann, Marcia (Craig) Allgood, Lisa Weatherman, Christy Weatherman, Erin (Michael) Keel, Bethany (Scott) Collins, Charity (Paul) Fowler, and Joy (James) Weaver; several great-nephews and great-nieces. Also left to cherish Deans memory are his many other family members, church family, neighbors, and many friends who he loved dearly.
The family wants to send a heartfelt thanks to Blue Rock Baptist Church family and friends who were so faithful to care for Dean by calling him often, bringing him food, seeing to any needs he had, spending time with him, and especially for their prayers. May God bless you all for your love and kindness.
The family also extends appreciation to Mission Hospital doctors and medical staff and to CarePartners Hospice Solace Center for their professional and courteous care for Dean. Thank you so much for your time and efforts.
Yancey Funeral Services will be assisting the family. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 4th at Blue Rock Baptist Church. Pastor Kenneth Forbes will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. prior to the services. Burial will follow in the Blue Rock Baptist Church Cemetery.
