Melvin Bobby Jones, 78, of Connelly Springs, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2024, at his residence after a period of declining health.
Mr. Jones was born July 14, 1945, in Yancey County, a son of the late Gaither and Julia Fox Jones. Melvin was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church and a hard worker, self employed as a roofer. He enjoyed his free time hunting and fishing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Verlin Jones.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Artie Lee Miller Jones of the home; two daughters: Bobbie Joe O’Renick and husband, J.P. of Granite Falls, and Tammy Jones of Icard; two sisters: Mildred Deal, and Shirley Yelton; and a brother, Roger Jones, all of Burnsville. Also surviving are the apples of his eye, his grandchildren, Danielle Miller and husband Joseph, Samantha O’Renick (Tyler Sawyer), Jonathan O’Renick (Taylor White) and great-grandchildren Madyson Miller, Mason Miller, Scarlett O’Renick and a number of nieces and nephews.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at 5:00 P.M. Saturday May 11, 2024, in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese with Rev. Curtis Carroll officiating.
The family will receive friends from 4 until 5:00 P.M. Saturday at Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese.
