Betty May Cooper

Betty May Cooper, age 90, of Burnsville, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday May 9, 2024.

A native of Jackson, Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late Daulton and Vivian May. She was also preceded in death by sister, Jane V. May.

Betty loved her family and adored spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She loved playing Bridge and reading her morning devotion.

She attended Brookstone Church in Weaverville, NC.

Betty loved to travel and had the opportunity to go on several international mission trips where she worked with children.

Children were her great passion. Betty owned and operated a pre-school in Jackson for many years prior to a corporate career with Cigna Insurance Group Sales, retiring in 1996.

Surviving is her three children: Debbie Stebbins, (Sam) of Burnsville, Tammy Hardy (Monty) of Burnsville, and Lee Cooper (Sissy) of Madison, MS; grandchildren: Brian Stebbins (Allison) of West Palm Beach, FL, Amy Hadley (Trent) of Colleyville, TX, Brittany King (Gabe) of Boyd, TX, Ethan Hardy (Grace) of Chesapeake, VA, Ben Hardy (Peyton) of Richmond VA, Megan Hardy of Alexander, NC, Hailey Cooper of St Louis, MO, and Dalton Cooper of Madison, MS; and ten great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 20 th at Spruce Pine Memorial Park in Spruce Pine, NC.
