Ross Silvers

Ross Silvers, age 81, of Burnsville, entered Heaven’s gates on Monday, May 13th, 2024 at Asheville Specialty Hospital.  A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Ike and Ruby Fender Silvers.  He was also preceded in death by a brother, Stanley Silvers (Jerlean), and two sisters, Marie Silvers and Grace Silver (Claude).

Ross is survived by the love of his life, his loving wife of 53 years, Shelby Angel Silvers; a sister-in-law, Hope Chandler of Burnsville; special cousins: Curtis and Travis Whitson and Sheila Deyton, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

Although Ross had no children of his own, he was cared for and loved by his eleven nieces and nephews, for whom his role as a father figure was fulfilled.  His cousins, grand nieces and nephews were cherished as well, and were near and dear to his heart.  Ross kept an immaculate yard and loved mowing and grooming it.  He loved family get-togethers, hunting, NASCAR races and having “porch time”.  Many people passing through 19E will miss seeing his wave as they toot their horns.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Yancey Funeral Services at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 18th.  Rev. Donald Whitson will officiate.  Burial will follow in the Hunter Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to Gideons International at P.O. Box 264, Burnsville, NC  28714.  To send online condolences, please visit our website at www.yanceyfuneralservice.com.
