Second Republican Primary

The vote was yesterday in the second Republican Primary. Two races were on the ballot, the Republican nomination for lieutenant governor between Hal Weatherman and Jim O’Neill and the Republican nomination for state auditor between Jack Clark and Dave Boliek.

In Mitchell County the voter turn out was just over 3%. In Yancey County, just over 3.5%. In the Lieutenant Governor race around 80% of the Yancey and Mitchell voters marked their ballots for Hal Weatherman. Weatherman won the runoff over Jim O’Neill with close to 75% of the vote, across the state.

The NC Auditor race is a closer race between Dave Boliek and Jack Clark. With a little over 99% of the precincts reporting, Boliek has just over 53% of the vote.

The winners will be on the ballot in the general election this November.
