Rebecca Hughes Wise, age 71, of the Green Mountain Community, went Home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 17th, 2024 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine.
A native of Roaring Creek, she was a daughter to the late Calvin and Deckie Hughes. Rebecca is also preceded in death by a brother, Joe Hughes and two sisters: Juanita Wise and Sharron Hughes.
Rebecca loved the outdoors and spent her free time gardening and planting her beautiful flowers. She also loved to go camping at Linville Mountain, and was always up for a good horror movie or movies by Stephen King. Her greatest enjoyment in life, however, was her family. She will forever be remembered as a wonderful, loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother, and memories of her will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
Surviving is the love of her life and husband of 42 years, Kenny Wise; children: Cory Jones of Green Mountain, Heather Proffitt (John) of Burnsville, Nichole Gilpin (Mathew) of Squirrel Creek, Amy Wise of Green Mountain and Gabriel Wise (Amber) of Roaring Creek; grandchildren: Paige Sparks, Garrett Sparks (Danielle Ward), Christian Ragle, Casey Jones (Brittney Morrison), Taylor Crowder (Dalton Presnell), Trenton Wise, Addison Crowder, Shaun Wise and Jorden Gilpin; great-grandchildren: Aubrey and Aliyah; and two siblings: William “Chubby” Hughes and Carron Putman (Gene).
A time to celebrate Rebecca’s life will be on Friday, May 24th at 7 p.m. in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Service. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. prior to the services.
The family would like to say a special thank you to all of their friends and loved ones who have shown and given them support during this difficult time, as well as Blue Ridge Regional Hospital for the wonderful care given to Rebecca.
