The Burnsville Volunteer Fire Department has been awarded $20,987.50 as a grant from the North Carolina Volunteer Fire Department Fund. The funds will be used to purchase needed equipment. The grant is through a dollar-for-dollar matching fund and use must be approved by the Office of the State Fire Marshal. The fund was begun in 1988 to help volunteer departments raise money for equipment and supplies. Since that time the Burnsville Volunteer Fire Department has received $106,511.07 from the state’s Volunteer Fire Department Fund.
