On Friday, May 31st a high school student assaulted the principal and assistant principal at McDowell High School in Marion. The student was confronted for using a vaping product, which led to the attack.
The victims, Principal Melora Bennett and Assistant Principal Lori Poteat, were treated for injuries and released.
The student was secured by School Resource Officers and taken away in handcuffs. The case is now with North Carolina Juvenile Justice, and no further details about the student are being released.
