Yancey County Government and the Yancey County School Board have worked closely with the NC Department of Transportation to place new “Welcome to Yancey County” signs on each County line. With the implementation of these signs Yancey County gets to additionally provide special recognition for the Mountain Heritage Cougars 2019 2A Basketball State Championship team.
“We are glad these signs are in place, it has taken a while to accomplish this project but we have not forgotten the achievements made by the 2019 team,” said Chairman Jeff Whitson.
