The North Carolina State Highway Patrol has released the names of the three individuals killed in the small plane crash near the McDowell County line, discovered on Monday, July 8th. The victims were identified as pilot Adam Plummer and passengers Scott George and Charles Mather Jr., all from South Carolina. According to troopers, the Cessna 182, owned by Air Star Aviation LLC, crash-landed around 8:57 p.m. on Sunday, July 7th, after departing from Mountain City, Tennessee, at approximately 8:29 p.m.
Devin Hutchinson told WLOS News he was shocked upon hearing the news, as it was the same plane used for his first skydiving jump earlier that day. Hutchinson had gone to Johnston County Airport in Mountain City, Tennessee, with two friends for skydiving. Due to the small size of the planes, they split up, and Hutchinson ended up on the plane that later crashed, resulting in the deaths of the pilot, the skydive instructor, and one other passenger.
