Milton Wade Hurt, age 62, passed away on Tuesday, July 9th, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
A resident of Spear for many years, he spent his childhood in Greensboro. He was a son of Shelby Jean LaDeau and the late Wade Hampton Hurt. He is preceded in death as well by an infant son, Richard Nicholas Hurt; a grandmother, Ruth Oxley Winfrey; an uncle, Richard Winfrey; and stepfather, Tom LaDeau.
Milton was a rock hound, having acquired a huge collection, and took a special interest in gemstones. He also had a great passion for music and loved writing songs, and wrote many songs for all his family. He also played guitar for over 50 years.
In addition to his mother, left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 42 years, Eve Buchanan Hurt of the Spear Community; a daughter, Crystal Hurt and husband, Judge Hughes of Linville Falls; a son, Ian Hurt of the Spear Community; granddaughter, Lillian; two brothers: Spencer LaDeau of Stokesdale, NC, and David Hurt and his companions, Pam and Sara of Browns Summit.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16th at the Yellow Mountain Cemetery.
