Cecil Burleson, age 90, of Silvers Hollow Road, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 14th, 2024 at Smoky Ridge Health and Rehabilitation.
A native of Mitchell County, he was a son of the late Odie and Ada Silvers Burleson.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Madge Wilson; brothers: Homer and Claude Burleson; nephew, David Wilson and great-nephew, Kameron Wilson.
Cecil was a simple man who had a sharp memory. He enjoyed telling stories, grocery shopping, ginseng hunting and spending time with his nephews and his cat.
Surviving is his niece, Ann Wilson; great-nephews: Kaelen Wilson and wife, Shannah and Kurtis Wilson all of Spruce Pine; great, great-nephews: Anthony, Theodore Wilson and Braylon Silvers and his loving friends, Cleo Davis and wife, Rebecca, of Silvers Hollow Road. Many cousins and numerous friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, July 26th in the chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Kent Murphy will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5 until 6 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.
