Yancey County Government has announced the installation of a permanent ADA compliant pool lift at the Toe River Campground that is now available for use. Due to a generous grant from their partners, the Mount Mitchell Community Fund Board of Directors, this project was made possible for installation before the 2024 swimming season and Camp Funshine. Pictured below with Yancey County Project Manager Morgan West are; Dick Adams, Founder, Mt. Mitchell Community Fund, Board Members – Holis Downs, Don Wisch, Heather Silvers, and our volunteer Ben Robinson. Mount Mitchell Community Fund will continue to be a valuable asset to the community in their generous giving, and Yancey County government appreciates their partnership on this project. Yancey County Commissioners look forward to installing a second pool lift at the Burnsville Pool as well, in the near future.
“We are so excited to make this available for our citizens with limited mobility, this will be a valuable asset to our Parks and Recreation Department,” said County Manager Lynn Austin.
