Mildred Miller Pitman age 81 of Jarrett Road in Bakersville passed away Thursday July 18, 2024, at The Greens of Spruce Pine.
Born in Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late Wait and Christine Grindstaff Miller. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Harold Pitman.
Mildred was a member of Bear Creek Baptist Church; she loved spending time with her family and friends and working puzzle books.
Left to cherish her memories is her children, Ricky Hollifield (Otehia) of Bakersville, Sherri Hollifield (Adam) of Spruce Pine, Rodney Hollifield (Andrea) of Roanoke, VA and Kevin Hollifield (Donna) of Spruce Pine, a brother Marvin Miller (Mary Margaret) of Bluff City, TN, grandchildren, Jamie, Brian, Eric, Emily and Rebekah, eleven great grandchildren and her beloved dog Jada.
A graveside service for Mrs. Pitman will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday July 21, 2024, in the Bear Creek Baptist Church cemetery with the Rev. Chris Rathbone officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to the Mitchell County Senior Center Meals on Wheels program 152 Ledger School Road, Bakersville NC 28705.
