The Classic Movie Club, which shows films monthly at the Yancey County Public Library, has rescheduled Singin’ in the Rain for July 29. The showing had to be canceled earlier this month due to issues with equipment.
Showtime is 7 p.m. on Monday, July 29, for Singin’ in the Rain, the 1952 musical that is regarded as one of the greatest films ever made.
Everyone is welcome to attend. There is no charge for admission but donations will be accepted for popcorn and drinks. The evening begins with Chapter 3 of the 1941 science fiction serial The Adventures of Captain Marvel.
The movie displays the energetic, creative dancing by Gene Kelly, Donald O’Connor, and Debbie Reynolds. With a perfectly balanced mixture of singing, dancing, comedy, and romance, it’s easy to see why Singin’ in the Rain is still popular with audiences.
