John (Johnny) Marcus Doan, age 53, of Maryville, TN, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 19, 2024, with his loving wife, Heather Rusch Doan, by his side. Originally from Asheville, NC, Johnny moved to TN when he married Heather, August 4, 2018, and enjoyed his life in the Foothills of the Smoky Mountains with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jeff David and Katrinka Webb Doan of Asheville and his son, Dalton Doan also of Asheville.
Johnny was an avid fisherman, like his Father, “JD”, raced cars, motorcycles and anything with a motor. He could often be found at the racetrack, on or near a body of water fishing, or riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles near and far with his “Brothers and Sisters”. He crafted his career as a skilled, professional Mechanic for over 25 years, working for the Buncombe County Garage, and owning his own automotive and motorcycle businesses in Asheville, and in Maryville with his wife. Johnny also had his “Dream Job” opportunity when he was employed with Rinehart Racing in Asheville, NC. He was proud to have worked with this amazing company and owner, combining his love for motorcycles, travel and meeting new people. He shared a love for the ocean, and manifested beautiful memories at the beach with his wife and friends. Johnny was the most genuine, tender-hearted, strong man you could know. He never met a stranger.
He leaves behind his loving and loyal wife, Heather Rusch Doan; a step-daughter, Madison Jones; a step-son, Ethan Jagger; loving and gracious in-laws: Cynthia and Larry Rusch (PA), and his faithful canine companions, Fern & Gator; a brother, Kendall Doan and wife Karen Doan (Southport, NC); aunts and uncles: Peggy Buckner, Polly Austin and husband Stokes , Alice Witt and husband Jim , all of Burnsville, Gail Reed of Canton, GA, Lois Gornto and husband Norris of Shelby, NC, and many loving cousins. His loyal and faithful friends, David and Andrea Babb (Asheville), Ryan and Gina Crawford (Asheville/Maryville), Adam and Melissa Driscoll (Maryville) and numerous loved friends throughout the country that will miss him immensely.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 27th at Yancey Funeral Services. The family will then go in procession for a graveside service in the Fairview Cemetery at Horton Hill.
