David Franklin King

David Franklin King, age 71 of Burnsville, was carried on the backs of angels into Heavens pearly gates on Saturday, July 20, 2024. He is now walking on streets of gold and is no longer in any pain.

David was born on November 17, 1952, to the late Luther James King and Gladys Leona McManus in Monroe, NC. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Chris King, and brothers, Ronald and Steven King.

David was known by his loved ones as one of the most kind, caring, and loving men you could ever know. His sweet, soft voice still echoes in the ears of those he left behind. He never complained, he never fussed, and he never had a harsh word to say about anyone.

He had a soft spot in his heart for animals, and especially loved his dog, Oreo, as well as a whole slew of cats, and several chickens.

He loved to fish and go out to eat with his friends.

In his later years, David fought hard in his battle with cancer. Some people say they “lost their battle” to cancer, but David won his battle because he is now cancer free and sitting beside Jesus. There was a great reunion in Heaven when he went Home. He is not gone, because his memory will be cherished; it will live on in the hearts of those that had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by his son, Jamie King; brother, Dennis James King; sister, Gloria Jean King; a special niece, Renee King Munives; nieces and nephews: Matt King, Crystal King, Brandon King, Jessica King, and Patrick King; as well as seven grandchildren. He also has two special friends who take care of him in his time of need. They are Ben and Rick Laws of Burnsville. They opened their home for a friend in need and cared for him until his last day here. They are truly one of a kind and are so appreciated for what they did for David.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 28, 2024, at Prices Creek Union Church in Burnsville, NC. The family will be receiving friends and loved ones thirty minutes prior to the service. Pastor Rick Bennett will be officiating. Interment will follow the service at the Prices Creek Union Church Cemetery.

The family would like to say special thanks to the staff at Compassionate Care of WNC. They go above and beyond what is asked of them, and we want to say thank you for all that you do.

Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home is respectfully serving the King family.
