The US Forest Service is hosting a public open house on Wednesday, July 31st, at the Yancey County Library. Stop by between 5:00 to 7:00 PM, to find out information and have questions answered about the recently released Grandfather, Appalachian, Pisgah Restoration Project. This project covers over 500,000 acres of public lands in our region, including Yancey and Mitchell counties, and focuses on restoring fire-adapted ecosystems, reducing wildfire risk, enhancing ecological diversity, and protecting access to clean and abundant water.
