Gerald Honeycutt, age 67, of Shoal Creek Road in Burnsville, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully at his home into his Heavenly home on Sunday morning, July 28, 2024. He was a son of the late Jack and Betty Bennett Honeycutt. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Andy Honeycutt.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Joyce Hughes Honeycutt, whom he shared 36 years of enduring and steadfast love; his stepsons: Scott Allen (Michael) of Asheville NC and Tim Allen (Andrea) of Burnsville; his most precious grandsons: Isaac Allen (Lauren) of Manning, SC (who are expecting Gerald’s first great grandchild), and Payton Allen (Kennedy, his fiancée). Also surviving is his sister, Bonnie Peterson (Doug); brothers: Fred of Green Mtn, Jack (Lee) of Erwin TN, Lyndon (Mary) of Los Banos, CA, twin brother Earl (Lisa) of Green Mountain, and Tom (Sheila) of Church Hill, TN, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins, all of whom he dearly loved.
Gerald was a man of God and he was happy to tell about the God he served. He attended Bailey Brethren Independent Church in Green Mountain. He was employed 17 years with OMC of Burnsville. He also worked at Avery Mitchell Correctional Facility for 5 years. He was the owner of Heritage Tire of Windom until his retirement. He was presently employed part-time with Wolf Laurel Golf Club.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 3rd in the chapel of Yancey Funeral Services in Burnsville, NC, conducted by Rev. Doug McPeters and Rev. Reid Bagby. Visitation will be held from 12 noon until 2 p.m. prior to the services. Interment will be at the Boone Cemetery on Plum Branch Road, Burnsville, NC.
Pallbearers will be David Bennett, Jason Bennett, Elvis Edwards, Daniel Edwards, Tucker Letterman and Randy Webb.
