Lennie Duncan, age 87, of the Grassy Creek Community, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
A native of Mitchell County, Lennie was the beloved daughter of the late Floyd and Lillie Pendley. She was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life of 63 years, Lewis Duncan, and her two sisters, Wilma Henline and Mary Lou Pendley.
Lennie is survived by her daughter, Bobbie Duncan, her grandson, Coty Ledford and his wife Whitney Ledford, and her cherished great-granddaughters, Harper and Magnolia Ledford. She also leaves behind her very special dog, Toby, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Lennie had a deep love for flowers, whether planting them or simply watching them grow. Above all, she treasured spending time with her great-granddaughters. Lennie took great pride in maintaining a clean and welcoming home, always delighted to have family and friends visit. She was known for her generous hospitality, ensuring that no guest left without enjoying a meal. Every Christmas, she lovingly prepared candy for her family, friends, and neighbors, a tradition that brought joy to many.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at 3:00 PM at Bear Creek Baptist Church, with Pastors Brent Duncan and Bruce Cannon officiating. Burial will follow in the Bear Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM prior to the service.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice of the Blue Ridge for their compassionate care and support for Lennie and her family.
