You Can Win the 2024 MPQG Opportunity Quilt – Buy Your Ticket Today!

Tickets are now available in person or online for the 2024 MPQG Opportunity Quilt. This year’s
quilt is crafted from the pattern “From The Heart: A Sampler Quilt,” designed by Lori Smith.
Measuring 62 by 78 inches, this beautiful quilt features traditionally pieced blocks and is quilted
on a long-arm machine by a member of our Guild. Additional photos can be viewed on our
website at www.mountainpiecemakersquiltguild.org.

Members of the Quilt Guild are selling tickets, or you can purchase online at

Proceeds from our opportunity quilt ticket sales help fund the purchase of fabric and batting to
make Hero Quilts for local veterans and Project Linus quilts for children in need. Each year, 50-
60 quilts are presented to local veterans from Yancey, Mitchell, and Madison counties. This will
be the twelfth year of our Hero Quilt distribution, with over 600 quilts donated to honor those
who have served in our military. We are grateful for the support of the Mountain Air Giving
Fund for their grant, the Burnsville Rotary for their work in honoring our heroes on Flags for
Heroes Day in November, and Yancey Journal, WKYK, and Yancey Graphics for their support of
our Hero Quilt project.

The 2024 opportunity quilt drawing will take place at the Flags for Heroes celebration in
November. The quilt will be shipped to the winner if needed. The Quilt Guild invites the
community to join us in honoring our local veterans and thanking them for their service on
November 9 at the Burnsville Town Square.

Mountain Piecemakers is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization offering educational opportunities
for those interested in quilting, in addition to our community service projects.
