Eddie Stamey, age 69, of Buchanan Street in Spruce Pine, passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals in Asheville.
Born on June 12, 1955 in Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Ed and Mabel Buchanan Stamey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters.
Eddie attended the Altapass Baptist Church for twenty years. He was the owner/operator of Fun Time Inflatables in Spruce Pine. He enjoyed this adventure of his life for the past eighteen years. He was very proud of getting to serve his community along with Western North Carolina. Before opening Fun Time Inflatables, he worked at Coates American, where he retired following twenty-eight years of service. He had also worked at WTOE, Sugar Mountain Ski Resort, owned a satellite business and ran the drive-in theatre in Spruce Pine making many friends in each of his business adventures.
Eddie was a proud member of the Civil Air Patrol. He loved to travel, listen to music, fishing, four wheeling as well as any outdoor activity and talking to his friends. Most of all, Eddie loved his family and he always put them first. He tried to always make sure that they were taken care of. He will be missed; but, never forgotten.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife; Brenda of the home; his sons; David of Spruce Pine and Chris and wife, Courtney of Barnardsville; his sister; Kim and husband, Roy of Spruce Pine; stepson; Shane of Spruce Pine and stepdaughter; Shannon of Bakersville; his former wife, Jean of Bakersville; a very special ‘brother’; Jerry of Spruce Pine; grandchildren; Kaylee, Isaiah, Blake, Anthony, Elijah, Alissa, Athena, Carson, and Brayden.
A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Saturday, August 10, 2024 from 3:00 pm until 4:00 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 4:00 pm Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 4:00 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home with the Rev. Bruce Cannon officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery.
