George Emerson Boyle, age 74 of Burnsville, went Home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 19, 2024.
Born on January 21, 1950, George was the son of the late Francis Gordon Boyle and Opal Aida Hockman. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, James Boyle.
George was a linebacker while he was at Ohio State University. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in Computer Science and Mathematics. He retired from Cincinnati Bell Telephone and was a Senior Project Manager for Indiana University Health. George had a love of all living creatures, and his family joked about him being a “dog whisperer”. He was a master woodworker, making heirlooms for family and friends. He was happiest in his workshop and he and his wife enjoyed traveling.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Susan S. Boyle; daughters: Lori Riegler, Michelle Goodnough (Rob), and stepdaughter, Morgan Flake; as well as five grandchildren: Meredith Riegler, Joshua Riegler, Emma Goodnough, Nicholas Goodnough, and Zelda Flake.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Robinson Cemetery on Halls Chapel Road in Burnsville, NC. The family will receive friends and loved ones thirty minutes prior to the service. Reverend Joe Bennett will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Compassionate Care of Western NC, or the Yancey County Humane Society.
