Kenneth “Ken” Edison Young, age 90, went Home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 22nd, 2024 at his home. A native of Macon County, he was a son of the late Wymer Edison and Mary Burdell Justice Young. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Faye Ray Young; his brother, Don Young; brothers-in-law: Cecil Huskins, Donald Loftis and Kenneth Hughes; and sister-in-law, Willie Dale Hughes.
Ken proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. After returning home, he went to Blanton Business College. He was extremely fond of his job as a mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service, and made many friends on his stops, always talking to and meeting new people. In his free time, we was an avid reader, having read over 1,000 books in his lifetime. He was a proud member of First Baptist Church where he was an eloquent singer. Ken could light up a room with his smile and his voice, always singing from his heart and soul. He was loved by so many and his memories will be cherished by all who knew him.
Surviving are his two daughters: Cathy McCracken and husband, David, of Mars Hill and Deborah Trexler and husband, Tim, of Burnsville; one son, Mark Young of Burnsville; seven grandchildren: Richard, Adam, Kenny, Nataya, Dustin, Marcus and Jackson; seven great-grandchildren: Isabelle, Easton, Esther, Lyle, Laney, Lily and Lakyn; one great, great-child, Jax; two brothers: Doug Young and Richard Young; and three sisters-in-law: Violet Harris, Wilma Barksdale and Lois Loftis.
A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
