Alice Yvonne Hughes, age 87, of the Jerry’s Creek Community, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 2nd, 2024 at her home.
A native of Avery County, she was a daughter of the late Hobart and Zona Mae Hughes. She was also preceded in death by sisters: Mildred Stafford, Jean Oaks, Kathy Hoilman and Vickie Young and brothers: Lester, Wallace, Jason, Hobart Paul “Sonny” and Spencer Hughes.
Alice could sing like a bird and took care of everyone’s children with much love and care. She enjoyed dancing, having dinner with her family, her cat Lucky and loved her “homeplace” where she was born and raised. Alice will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
Surviving is her daughter, Cammy Jones and husband, Ford; granddaughter, Jessie Jones and husband, Sammy; great-grandson, Logan Ollis; nephew, Grantley Hoilman and special friend, Robert Murr all of Roaring Creek. Her 19-year-old cat, Lucky, many nieces, nephew, friends and other extended family members also survive.
Private graveside services will be held in the Marigold Cemetery.
